Swim
Comments: Some folks from my wave moved out closer to the buoys and no one objected...not sure if we were supposed to start from the edge of the water, but I wasn't going to pass up dropping off a few seconds if I didn't have to! What would you do differently?: Nothing, I was stoked about the swim! Transition 1
Comments: It was the first race with my new bike which I only had for a week. I tried practicing transitions, but it wasn't enough. I decided to be conservative about my transitions...I just didn't want to break my neck! What would you do differently?: Practice transitions more! Bike
Comments: I lost my water bottle-again! I always end up dropping water. =( The roads were wet so I was cautious on the bike trail-lots of puddles and wet leaves and blind corners. No monstrous climbs though. What would you do differently?: Gain confidence on corners. Transition 2
Comments: I had practiced getting my feet out of my shoes while still on my bike before, but it stunk. So, I came to a complete stop and clipped out. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Run
Comments: I was conservative on the swim and bike so that I had some energy for the run. I didn't do a quick stretch of my quads before starting the run, so I was tight for the first 1/2 mile or so. After I got into the rhythm of things I tried to keep loosey goosey and keep the breathing under control. What would you do differently?: I was impressed that I didn't drop on the run and was able to keep singing to myself about beer until I hit mile 4...then I was ready for it to be over. Post race
Warm down: Ran straight to the water and soaked for 10 mins. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was expecting to not have a good race because my training was consistent but I wasn't hitting the volume I hoped. Event comments: I would highly recommend this race!!! It was enough of a challenge to be rewarding, but not so much so that it was obnoxious to push through. Very organized and the swag bags rocked!! Lots of cool goodies!! Lodging was easy to get close to the race which helped a great deal. Nice area, nice people...looking forward to next year! Last updated: 2008-09-16 12:00 AM

The race started at 8:30. I got up at 5:45 and ate three waffles with peanut butter on one. I drank a gatorade and a water. It was pouring out and dark so we waited for the sun to come up and then I went to packet pick up. It was still raining so we went back to the hotel until 7:15 and I went back to set up my transition area.
I stretched and then got in the water for about 100-200 yards of warmup.
