Swim
Comments: It was my best swim of my life!! Heart rate low & steady What would you do differently?: Pick it up a little, I didn't try hard enough....and I should have tried to pull past that pack I was in Transition 1
Comments: I had to pee...I was quite dizzy, I fluffed around & should have gone faster but I was so excited that I was in much before I expected!!! What would you do differently?: focus more...pee in my wetsuit!!! Bike
Comments: I had three flat tires, not enough tubes on the bike, and I lost my pump. It was challenging that way because I lost two hours, but I never gave up, so that was good. It all came together in the end. What would you do differently?: Make sure I have more tubes & not lose my pump. Otherwise, I thought I put in a very, very good effort. Transition 2
Comments: I don't know how long I took here because I rode around looking for the chip mat...I had to reroute because the last part of the course was closed before the cut off time. What would you do differently?: Just try harder to make it in on time, which I did...but just in time. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to continue or not, so I just did. Run
Comments: I had nothing left for the run because I had to work very hard the last portion of the bike to get in on time. I did feel like barfing when I ran, so most of this was walking. it was ok though... What would you do differently?: Not eat boiled potatoes or drink gatorade. I never trained with them, so not sure why I did that...I had a very upset stomach. Post race
Warm down: Nothing really, I felt pretty good. And then hung out & waited for my friend to come in, she took 18 hours 15 mintutes, she had a worse day than I did! What limited your ability to perform faster: my bike...after the first two flats, the 50 mile effort on the hills to make up time was exhausting. The last 8 miles after the last flat was pretty much anaerobic, so nothing left for the run. Event comments: I had a great time despite the three flats on the course. I would sign up for this again next year if they offered the full...it might be a little too far to travel for just the half. The volunteers are awesome & they really stick by you, expecially if you're one of the last ones. They are the best volunteers I've come across. Last updated: 2008-09-17 12:00 AM

Ate some oatmeal, cleared the mind, relaxed, touched base with the bike on site...nothing really, wandered around making sure I got the right bags in the right places, jooked with the chip timers that my age group was wrong, that I really wanted to be 25, not 37!! And that my number 12 is the same age as my son!! I've never done ironaman before, I don't know what to do!!
Made sure I relaxed in the water first...I get panic attacks, Got my face used to the water....before I got in the lake, peed about 6 times coz I was nervous!!
