Overall Rank = 63/124
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/5
Pre-race routine:

Ate toast and cup of coffee. Got to the event early and drank 1 water and 1 gatorade. I hydrated really well the couple of days before and ate banannas.
Swim
  • 17m 11s
  • 650 meters
  • 02m 38s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was horible. I have to work on my swimming techinque. I couldn't crawl hardly at all. I have to work on my swimming a lot.
What would you do differently?:

I would practice more and be able to crawl most if not all of the swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

I could have shaved a few seconds off of my time if I didn't worry with putting on socks. The run to T1 was a pretty good distance so that didn't help.
What would you do differently?:

I think I would have tried to push the pace just a little bit more from the water to T1...
Bike
  • 48m 25s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 17.97 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall the bike was good. I don't think I pushed the pace quite as much as I should have becuase I didn't wan't to blow the run. That worked out pretty good becuase I was pleased with my run time but finished last in my age on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

I would have pushed it just a little harder from the beginning.
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

This was pretty smooth. All I had to do was take off my helmet and slip on my shoes. I grab my race belt and put that on as I was running out of the transition.
Run
  • 25m 41s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

The run felt horrible but the results were great. I didn't feel like I was running fast at all but it turns out I was. It took a little while to get my breathing under control.
I just stayed steady and didn't try to speed up or slow down throughout the course.
What would you do differently?:

This was a great run for me so I don't think I would change much.
Post race
Warm down:

Water and a smoothie. 2 gatorades

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think not knowing what to expect was what limited me the most. I could have pushed the bike portion a little harder.

Event comments:

Overall the race was great. It was my first event and it went great. The race event was top notch and my finish was better than I expected. I beat my goal time by 10 1/2 minutes.
