Swim
Comments: Swim felt great. Lined myself up with where I thought the first orange bouy would be based on where I saw it while on land. First 100m had a little contact but not much. Def. wasn't sure if I was going the right direction for awhile because I didn't see a yellow bouy on the way out. The course back in was great, lined myself up with the bouy line and went. Started to conserve leg energy with about 500m to go and the swim exit came up faster than I anticipated. Had some contact with the silver wave but overall not too bad. Transition 1
Comments: Time is an estimate, I honestly have no idea if this is correct or not due to timing mis-hap at the race. Reminded myself to jog coming out of the water and not run too hard. Go a little off course when entering T1 but quickly corrected it. Wetsuit came off semi easily. Transition area was really cramped and the woman next to me decided to take the cover off her bike and leave it on my back tire, so I wasn't to happy I had to remove that as well before getting my bike out. What would you do differently?: Ask the woman next to me to move slightly over since we were fortunate enough to have two empty spots on our rack, instead I was super cramped. Bike
Comments: Tough course for me and this was the first time racing in the rain and on wet roads. I'm really happy with my time. Though I was really frustrated because I couldn't take the downhills with lighting speed like so many others and everyone in aero, it was a success for me. My back started tightening up around mile 10 and hurt really bad by the end, I pushed through it and kept myself calm. I stuck to my plan, 5 miles comfortable spin, pick up the next 10 miles, pick up again for the next 5 if I felt I could and then cruise to remainder to the bike dismount to try and save some legs for the run. (had to subtract out places for those who didn't do the bike course) What would you do differently?: Bike more and in all different types of conditions. Transition 2
Comments: I had a great transition location, right off of the bike dismount line. Hill was a little muddy coming down so I took my time so I wouldn't bite it down the hill. Racked bike with ease, grabbed my stuff and off I went. What would you do differently?: Put visor and race number on while running, probably cost me 5-10 seconds standing in the transition area. Run
Comments: Knew this was going to be a challenging course, so I took the first mile as comfortable as possible. I had been doing some hill training leading up to the race, so I just tried to keep my breathing in check and sipped on my water bottle that I brought with me as I needed fluids. Again, I stuck with my plan, 2 miles at a comfortable pace, pick up the next 2 miles if I felt like I could and then start picking it up again for the last 2. I had a good time on this run and just spotted objects infront of me and ran towards that. The last 1/2 mile of so, I felt I had some fuel left in the tank and I didn't want to leave anything out on that course. Last 1/8-1/4 mile for me was at an almost all out sprint. Figured if I had it, I needed to use it. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder around mile five but other than that, it was a good run for me and I was really happy with it. Post race
Warm down: Met up with BTers, drank lots of Gatorade and then went and got warm clothes because I was freezing!!! I'm so sad I missed seeing Chrissie Wellington today!! Especially since she was right at the finish handing out medals, I don't know how I missed it!! :( What limited your ability to perform faster: The bike, I need to get in way more miles and push myself. Also need to start upping the running mileage. Event comments: Thanks to all the BTers and Team FeXY that came out and showed support today!!! Last updated: 2008-09-21 12:00 AM

Up at 3:45AM, made some coffee (a must), stretched, ate a banana, double checked all the gear one last time, then got in the car for the hour drive to the race site. Chatted with Dan for about the first 40 minutes and then rocked out to my ipod before getting to the race site.
Set up transition and walked around a bit. Didn't really get in much warm-up at the swim entry, tried to tread water and conserve energy.
