Swim
Comments: A great Improvement over my first triathlon. Not breast stroke this time, and got out of the water with plenty energy. Training payed off! Quite happy with results. What would you do differently?: I'm in need of swimming lessons to correct problems on technique: I feel that I stroke a lot but i don't move a lot. Improving but still below average. Off season training will be crucial for next season. Transition 1
Comments: The transition was excellent until the moment when i have to put mi feet on shoes. I practice get it on the bike with shoes attached to pedals and thought it will help, but it didn't! A horrible start: I was passed by 17 competitors! What would you do differently?: Put my shoes on and run with the cleats, I'm a lot quicker on that! Bike
Comments: The course was pretty good, easy to follow, but deceiving to say the least. It was impossible to get somebody to explain the riding course the day before, so i never saw it. Surprise surprise! It was a lot more hilly that i anticipated, and i had some trouble changing gears and saving legs. But in general i was happy with the performance. The rain was a slow down factor, but mostly it was great. Adding the aerobars was a great idea. What would you do differently?: Make changes on T1 so i can start with a lot more power and speed, try to save some legs on the way up so i can take advantage of the downhills. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition, drop the glasses and have to move to the other side to pick them up. What would you do differently?: nothing, just add more speed. Run
Comments: This keep being my worst part of the race (or may be just the one i enjoy the less). In training my feet seem to move higher and faster, but on race day i barely get them off the ground. Rain and cold weather help a lot. What would you do differently?: Change shoes. After mile 2 a pain under my ankle bone started on my right leg and 2 weeks after still hurt when i run. Try to find a solution during the off season. Run a lot more. Add brick training to mock race situation. Way over my expectations of 10 min/mile Post race
Warm down: eat something (mostly fruits), drink a gel and water, got on the lake again and swim a little to stretch and cool off, stretch muscles. What limited your ability to perform faster: May be just bad technique on the swimming is holding me back, a wrong strategy out of T1, bad gears selection on the hills, and poor running abilities. Event comments: I will do this race again, love the place, the weather, and the hilly course now that I know it. In general I'm very happy (except the bike shoes problem) because my goal was to improve over my first triathlon and i did! 50 minutes off is a good start. Looking to train in the off season to have a great '09 season. Thanks to everyone for the cheers and support, specially my wife. Last updated: 2008-09-22 12:00 AM

Get Up early, a cold Shower, double check transition bag, Drive to Race place. Check tire pressure, get down to the lake, swim for about 15 minutes to warm up, stretch. Get a good luck kiss from the wife and get on the mental part of my race.
15 minutes swimming easy to stretch arms and muscles, get blood pumping. Some quad, calf, arms stretch. Check bike adjustment, ride a bit to be sure everything is in prime. Pray.
