![]() Swim
Comments: Way too crowded, I was totally boxed in, nowhere to go for the first 300 of 400 meters. time includes long steep uphill run to transition. Actual time out of the water was about 2 minutes less and on par with my usual swim times. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: had a bit of trouble getting the helmet buckle to clasp, even still this may have been my best T1. What would you do differently?: 4th in age group for T1, I'm not changing much. Now I just have to figure out how to duplicate it. ![]() Bike
Comments: Very pleased with this bike. The only time I was passed was going uphill or while cornering. I really need to work on hills. What would you do differently?: Lots of hill training next year. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Another quick transition. Maybe I'm getting the hang of this. What would you do differently?: Not much ![]() Run
Comments: This is where I felt like I was "racing" I looked at my watch out of transition and knew that a PR was w/in reach. I needed to do slightly better than 9 minute miles. Not too far into the course I realized that it was mostly uphill until the turn around, PR still in reach but maybe difficult. The hills actually energized me b/c I knew I could push a bit and still negative split b/c of the downhill on the way back. After about the first mile I started to fade, I picked someone running just a bit faster than me and used him to pace my run for about a half mile, this got me going again. At the 2 mile mark i knew it would be close so I kept pushing. Pushed hard up the big hill at the end and did my best to sprint to the finish. I knew it was close and didn't know for sure until times were posted that I PR'd by 30 seconds. I know I'm still slow but I'm starting to see the improvement. I don't think that I'm actually getting faster yet but I'm better able to pace myself properly start to finish. This was my best tri run. What would you do differently?: Nothing in this race but I'll be stronger and better able to push in futur tri runs. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Water then on to mimosas and screwdrivers while cheering the Team Petillo Relay Team (Mom, Dad, and Kristen) and the USA Fit Gwinnett Triathletes, they all did great. What limited your ability to perform faster: hills on the bike course Event comments: GA Multisport always does a good job and this race was no exception. This is a fun race to finish a tri season. Same as always, it has truly become a "routine" including the socializing part.
