Comments: It was a faster run than my training runs have been. It was also the first time I ran the distance without taking any walking breaks. What would you do differently?: Definitely could have used some additional time to train before the event but I was happy with how it went. I probably pushed a bit harder than I should have given my running fitness level but I don't appear to have injured myself. Post race
Warm down: Several minutes of walking followed by light stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cardiovascular fitness. Very out of breath on the uphills, several of which were long. There's a 2/10 mile stretch that is just a killer hill. Event comments: Racing the alma mater was fun. It was my first 5K since I was a kid and the first 5K I've ever run without walking part way. Though I don't have much to compare it to, I thought it was great! The way the start was setup caused quite a bit of bunching. People were funneled into a starting area that narrowed to the actual line. Race results could have been provided a bit more efficiently but it wasn't a big deal.
