Event warmup:

jumping jacks and stretching, water and air temp to cool for a warm up swim.
Swim
  • 09m 35s
  • 480 meters
  • 01m / 100 meters
Comments:

Prett cool the first 100m. Good start, not too much jostling and had clean water around me after the first 20m. First 75m felt a little panicky for some reason and couldn't calm down. Finally chilled and got into the routine and all was better. went wide on 1st bouy to stay out of the typical cluster and sighted well to the next bouy, great 2nd turn and sighting. ran up the back of several folks and threw off rythem a little but felt strong breathing on whatever side to keep sun out of my eyes, glad i practiced that! last turn bouy, sighted good to it and came in strong to the finish. muddy and slippery coming out but they had big strong helpers, so was okay. Felt good !

elbow was okay the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe think about drafting a bit, more races and i think i'll settle in quicker. work on speed but i felt as if i was on pace or quicker, so mt sure about that...
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Good T1, took a few seconds to dry offa bit to keep the icicles from forming... thought about the long sleeve shirt, even picked it up and lost a few seconds there...
What would you do differently?:

need to be more decisive and no what i am going to do BEFORE the race starts and then just live w/ it. My cycling jacket w/ the arms off WOULD have been perfect but it was at home !! Arg... PLANNING, PLANNING, PLANNING !!!!
Bike
  • 35m 23s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.35 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride. Still need work here, I don't think it's all bike by any means... A little cool at the begining but quit thinking about it and all was well...

Took 1-1.5 Gel from bottle about mile 8.

Nice to see impovement from last year.
What would you do differently?:

Vest! Pedal faster ?!?! lolo
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Just before I came off the bike, i got a head rush (leaning down to open shoes ?) and then i leaned over to put shoes on, another head rush ! Had to stop and relax for 20 seconds to get me snap back. Okay after that... Weird
What would you do differently?:

not get a head rush, probably lost 30 second from bike dismount to T2 exit.
Run
  • 25m 17s
  • 3.06 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, felt pretty easy and should have pushed more during the last mile but okay w/ upcoming 1/2 on the horizon.

Always felt light and the weather was made for running!!
What would you do differently?:

Not have a big race right after this but the hurricane is to blame and couldn't do anything about it so...

Would like to attack this race next year!
Post race
Warm down:

Not much other than fueling. stood around and talke cervelo bikes, ate some pasta and sandwich and drank some water. Felt really good. Weather was beautiful !

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My "A" race being in 14 days !

Event comments:

Would like to have seen the results posted at the race. Otherwise Dave Rainey puts on a 1st class event! Great volunteers and food! Lots of friendly people that reminds me why it is so fun. During the race racers are encouraging and the volunteers are cheering ! Love it ! I will be back for a 3rd year!
