Swim
Comments: Swimming in a pool is very different than trying to just focus on getting from point A to point B in open water. I was the C swimmer in my lane, and I was on the heals of swimmer B for the first few laps. He eventually let me pass. What would you do differently?: Swim faster, somehow?? Transition 1
Bike
What would you do differently?: Pick up my pace at the end. For some reason I thought I needed to do another turn around, so I was being cautious at the end. Plus, the largest hill was at the end, agh! Transition 2
Run
Comments: I much prefer a flat run on concrete, thank you very much. What would you do differently?: Not much, I ran my hardest considering the conditions Post race
Warm down: Pick up a quick bagel and banana for a post race snack. Hung out with my family who came by, mom, husband, kiddos and my brother and his kiddos. Event comments: This was a well run event, but the racers were very spread out. I get motivated by seeing others on the course, and there was very little of this. I didn't enjoy the run as much as I usually do because of the hills and the fact that it was a trail run. It was great that this race was just next door so I didn't have to travel as far or spend a night in a hotel. And I had two great Milton friends to do it with, Michele and Lesley. Got up around 6:45am, took a shower, checked my race bag several times, filled up my water bottles and ate an oatmeal to go bar.
Some stretching, but mostly chatting with a few friends at the event. We also had to laugh at some of the participants swim strokes, to blow off some pre-race jitters.
