Pre-race routine:

Being my first race I decided to get there early to make sure I was prepared so I woke up and ate a banana. Didnt want to overdue the eating and it turned out to be just right.
Event warmup:

I did a few quick sprints to warm up my joints, met with fellow BT'ers, stretched and said hi to my parents.
Swim
  • 09m 52s
  • 440 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

Ended up doing breast stroke half the way unfortunately. Got out ahead of the pack, it was just really rough.
What would you do differently?:

um....I performed well due to the condition of the course but I feel like I could train more.
Transition 1
  • 03m 47s
Comments:

What a disaster!!! I went to put on my shirt and my number got torn off, i spent forever trying to fix it and then put on my shoes, just one big mess.
What would you do differently?:

In order to do better here I need actual bike shoes a better shirt (mine wasn't good for this at all, really hard to get on). And practice this one a little more with the equipment.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 6s
  • 15.9 miles
  • 14.65 mile/hr
Comments:

The headwind for the Pineda causeway was horrible for me, it literally stopped me to a crawl going up. Going down was a lot of fun though, lol. Very fun ride all together. Everyone was passing me though :( I need to practice a LOT more on my biking. I would say that I need to buy a new bike but there were 60 yr. olds riding past me that werent even riding road bikes.
What would you do differently?:

TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN, i trained for the bike portion but not with any hills (kinda hard to do that in Orlando). I do need to buy a bike though cause i cant keep borrowing my buddies. Get some nice bike shoes with it too.
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

This was a REALLY good transition for me, i racked my bike, took off my helmet and I was off. I had good positioning in the racks too.
What would you do differently?:

I did very well for this transition for it being my first time so I dont know what i would differently.
Run
  • 30m 6s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 08m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran just as much as I thought I would and trained for so I did well. I didnt realize either how many people would be cheering so they made me push it out even more. The volunteers were AWESOME, I wanted to stop and walk so many times but they just kept calling out our numbers and it pushed me to go faster.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster, lol.
Post race
Warm down:

I wanted to faint but I just walked around and had my fill of Gatorade and water and kept moving.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Choppy waters, not enough training on the open road for the bike portion, and complete exhaustion by the time i got off the bike.

Event comments:

I loved this race, it was near my parents so they could come watch, it was in my hometown, and I met a BUNCH of fellow BT'ers that I will be looking forward to racing with in the next season. And above all I set a personal best though so im FREAKIN ECSTATIC. I COMPLETED MY FIRST TRI.

I'm addicted..
