Total Time = 54m 18s
Overall Rank = 1021/1625

Age Group Rank = 72/98
Pre-race routine:

12 oz of Wawa coffee.
Event warmup:

none. I was running late (literally).
Run
  • 54m 18s
  • 5 miles
  • 10m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

felt really good. Never out of breath doing a 11 minute mile pace.

The thermal run tights really didn't help me run any faster (didn't expect them to) but they did keep me warm (except my crotch) and they did help my muscles following the race - I really didn't get sore at all.
What would you do differently?:

push. lose weight.
Post race
Warm down:

stretched. MMMMM. warm chicken broth. Best idea for after race nutrition. Never had it before but it made perfect sense on a day that was 25 degrees outside.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing except for not doing a real run training.

Event comments:

I really enjoyed this race. I was ready to do the Half-Marathon but I couldn't accept the $100 entry fee. Maybe if it was something like $60 or $75 even - but a $100? Too expensive. The 8K was just right considering the lack of training I have done. It was great running out on Kelly Drive past Boathouse Row and around Logan Circle and the Ben Franklin Parkway. I wish I had more time to spend after my finish.

I will be doing the Half-Marathon next season regardless of the entry fee price.
