Swim
Comments: I could feel my neck rubbing on the wetsuit 400 yards into the race despite the body glide. Guess it was forshawing the day to come What would you do differently?: I just could't get my rythm, got kicked and hit A LOT. Transition 1
Comments: Ran up the crazy helix. Tried to keep the HR down, but I couldn't. Smiled at my support team. Ran into the room, grabbed my bag and I was out quick. One thing that did go right on race day. What would you do differently?: Maybe use some bike pad cream Bike
Comments: Things were going good until mile 70 or so. Watch was set to beep so I would eat or take gel. Drining lots of water, it was hot out there! Taking in gatoraid and bannans at aid stations. Took 3-4 electrolyte tabs. Around 70, started to get stomach cramps, couldn't take in much food or gatoraid after that. I could only get water to stay down. Had to slow way down. My hr was around 150 all day and I just coulnd't keep it in the range I had trained in without going 12 mph!!! It was so frustrating to train so well this summer and then have it all go to hell on a hot race day. What would you do differently?: I don't know what went wrong. It was so much hotter out there than it was during training this summer. I need to rethink my nutrition plan I think and keep it simpler, just infinate or something like that. Transition 2
Comments: another quick t2 time. What would you do differently?: Maybe change out of bike shorts into running shorts Run
Comments: well my lack of being able to eat much on the bike hurt me here. I knew it would. I tried to take in coke and gatoraid. Since on the bike all I could keep down in the end was water, when I started on the coke I had to pee all the time. So every 2 miles I was stopping to pee. Again, the days I took off of work this summer to do my long runs were cool. Summer finally showed up in WI in Sep. I kept taking on sponges and cold water, running when I could and walking the rest. What would you do differently?: Better nutrition on the bike, I did the best I could with what I had left. So happy I had a huge support group out there, they kept me going despite my rough day. They knew my goal times and I think it was just as hard for them to see me having a bad day as it was for me. They kept popping up all over on the run course, it was like a little game for them to catch me. Kept things intresting. Post race
Warm down: Found the first place to sit down and did! Made our way back to the rental house and had to have my husband help me get cleaned up. Sat in the chair and watched the last 10 min of the Packer game, and went to bed. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat and the lack of food I could take in. Event comments: I feel I did the best I could given my situation. It is quite fitting the finisher t-shirt had a bottle of spilled milk on the back. Can't cry over the race even though it didn't go the way I had hoped and trained for. Just learn from this. The first thought that was in my head when I woke up Monday AM was I am going to do this race again, and it is going to be diffrent next time! Next thought in my head, OMG my ass hurts! 2011 IMWI?? we will see. Last updated: 2008-10-04 12:00 AM

Tried to sleep, but I only got 4-5 hours. Had my parents drop off Sean and I at the capital and we walked from there. Dropped off my bags and got marked. Found all my family and made my way down to the swim start. Tried to eat breakfast, got a half a bowl of cereal down and one ensure.
Hopped in and found a good swimming starting point.
