Pre-race routine:

woke up early and took the dogs out. poptarts for breakfast and drove the 15 minutes to the race site

Not my day. Had alot of things crop up in the last month and I guess thats what got me. Plan was to stay with Marcy at 10:30 pace but I melted in mile 4 and she was gone by mile 5. I didn't handle the humidity or heat well. I carried water and was never at a need but I just got too hot on the beach road.
What would you do differently?:

Not miss the last month of training.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Life :).

The restaurant got real busy on Friday and we didn't have enough help. I spent 4 hours on the floor helping and that probably was a bad idea but it only compounded the missed training.

Event comments:

Very well done race I just had to many things going on in the last month and wasn't physically as ready as I should have been. I think I did 10 miles of this course in October at a 10:30 pace so I was relying on base that didn't carry me today. Well organized fun race. I look forward to doing it again.

Course: Terrific course, starts at Orange Beach sportsplex and hits the back country trail after half a mile. The trail is all paved but through the woods. Trail ends at mile 3 then next 6 miles along the beach road and a mile into the state park. Back on the trail for the last 3 and finishes back at sportsplex. Loop course.
