Swim
  • 21m 5s
  • 600 yards
  • 03m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Flat calm seas. Constant traffic around me. Lots of bumping. Stayed calm and tried to conserve energy. Breathing was steady and under control.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up. I held back as I feared exiting the water gaspign for breath.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Found neighbors gear scattered into my area. Neighbor's water also soaked on my belongings. I stayed calm and purposefully tried to not rush. I figured a few seconds wasn't going to hurt and wanted to be sure I didn't forget anything.
Bike
  • 54m 58s
  • 18 miles
  • 19.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Held myself back in fear I wouldn't have anything left for the run (my weakest event). I had a high HR for me 165 and couldn't get it down below 155-160 even if I slowed to 18 mph, so I just tried to maintain 20-22 mph and hoped I wasn't pushing too hard.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more h20. I should have pushed a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

Had that nagging feeling I was forgetting something. I tried to be calm & purposeful, which cost me some time, but since I'm so slow on the run, I wasn't too worried about a few extra seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Practice the transitions at home and have confidence in my set up.
Run
  • 28m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Wow, was overcome by calf cramps at the start of the run as well as rib stitches. Don't know where they came from. It wasn't until the 1/2 way point before I could actually start to run instead of jogging.
What would you do differently?:

Stop & stretch a bit to see if I could shake the calf cramps. Run more in advance of the race (I hadn't run in the 3 weeks prior due to a foot injury)
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of conditioning. Foot injury. Better race management.

Event comments:

Volunteers were fantastic. Race very poorly organized & executed. Late setup, no body marking because they had no markers, no transitiion area organization, timing is yet to be verified by the RD as they had some hiccups that haven't been yet resolved now 3 days later. Fun race course, great people, but poor administration.
