Comments:

The "waves" were small and while I could have gone with wave one as I was in the relay I just went with wave two. I felt alright and tried to not go out too fast. I never saw a mile 1 marker. I know the area so I knew when we'd come across Navy Pier. About 1.5 miles into it two guys stopped running and walked. One said to the other, "Yeah for being out of shape!" And they high fived. They didn't have the relay ankle band on so man that must have been a LONG 10 miles for those guys. I think I saw a mile two marker. It was an out and back (the Navy Pier portion) so I saw Lindsay in the transition area and she shouted to me as I went by to go around Navy Pier. Once we got to the furthest part out we hit the obstacle. There were brightly colored plastic jersey barricades. Think construction barricade things but taller. I didn't want to hurt my knees so I was able to swing one leg over and then fling myself over. I think there were two barricades, then a culvert (round thing on the ground) that we had to crawl through. There were a few of each. Let's just say I got the easiest leg of the race. And I can only hope there are professional shots of me straddling the barricades. After finishing that portion I was just a few minutes away from Lindsay. The map said I'd do 3.5 miles but I think I did around 3.1.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I suppose I'd try another leg of the relay.
Post race
Warm down:

I took pub trans back to the start/finish. Lindsay and I watched Karen finish and it was awesome.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Uh the jersey barricades?

Event comments:

Lindsay ran around 4 miles and did monkey bars, crawled under some rope things and scaled marine hurdles (she said those were a bitch and a half.) Karen ran about 3 miles and had to go up and down the stairs at Soldier Field, then slid over some taxis and had to scale a big ass wall. It was pretty damn fun. I don't know that I'd want to do 10 miles of obstacles. There were alot of meat heads at this race.
