Run
Comments: I started the run at a nice pace and was running with Shawn Toffolo. Ran the first mile in 7:22, uphill, and knew that it wasn't going to last. After about 1 1/2 miles I let Shawn go and settled into a comfortable pace. At 2 miles I looked down and saw that I hadn't slowed much but I was on flat ground. Around this time my bladder was screaming so I just let it go and rinsed at the first water station. At least it was only pee, after 6 dumps I shouldn't have to worry about that #2 stuff!! The next few miles were uneventful, I was starting to feel that rumbly feeling around mile 6 and wished there was a porta-john at the water station but no luck. I started to look for people outside to ask if I could use their bathroom when I spotted a barn and ducked behind there. I won't get into too much detail, I'll just say that I didn't quite "make it". Thank goodness for bounty and cheap gloves. I got a few looks when I got back on the road but held a pretty consistent, comfortable pace for the rest of the race. As I was coming down the last mile TwinRacer (Tim) was "cooling down" after his 1:25 and ran with me to the finish. He moved back on the sidewalk when I told him what took me so long. He wouldn't even high five me at the finish! WTF? :) What would you do differently?: Eat more rice!! Post race
Warm down: Immediatly found a shower and got cleaned up. Cheered a few people in and hung out for a while with Tim and chatted. What limited your ability to perform faster: More training and less eating! Event comments: I think there could be a few more water stations and at least 1 porta-john. ;) Last updated: 2008-10-08 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6 am and took my RHR and it was 56, that's not a good sign. I didn't feel great the las couple days and judging from the green and yellow gunk coming out of my nose I understood why. YUK!! I made a pot of coffee, put some oatmeal in the micro and took dump #1. Had a cup of coffee, ate my oatmeal and sat down for dump #2. Are you sure you want to keep reading? :) Loaded my stuff in the car and headed up to Ithaca.
I had planned on running 6-8 miles before the race to give me a 20 mile day. When I arrived at Cornell I went in to get rid of the coffee and Gatorade that I drank on the way up. As I was walking out of the bathroom I had to turn around to take dump #3. I finally got out to run and got less than a mile in to the run when I had to duck into a building to take dump #4. I ended up getting in about 7 miles, HR was higher than I had hoped it would be but legs felt good anyway. Met up with Tim (TwinRacer)after my run and he had brought me some chocolate milk. YUM!!! I put some dry clothes on and hung out and talked with some ITCers and finally got to put a face to gdale name. About 30 minutes before the race start I took another jog around the block and swung down to another bathroom for, you guessed it, dump #5!! Met up with Tim again and a few minutes before the race he said he needed to use the bathroom so we went and guess what, dump #6!!! That has to be it!! We finally made it out to the starting line and as we stood there waiting I couldn't believe it ........ I HAD TO PEE!!!!!
