Comments:

I was feeling good at first and ran harder than I have for a long time. HR was around 165 and I was doing about 5:50 km. But my IT band began to tighten and cause knee pain. Tried to stretch it out and walk it out but it kept tightening. Tried to ignore and keep running but it would tighten so much that I got stiff-legged and could barely run so had to keep taking walk breaks. Annoyed me but I kept on going. I'm actually really happy with my time anyway. My training runs have been around 7:00 km so this was a pretty good time considering how much walking I did....
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Probabl should ahve gone out slower but I like to compete. And hey, I still won! :)
Post race
Warm down:

Got in car and drove home. Sat down at computer, no stretching. LOL...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stupid knee pain

Event comments:

Self supported race. Took one 10 oz water bottle. Just enough.
