Age Group Rank = 757/1545
Pre-race routine:

Cereal and banana, pack change of clothes and walk .5 mi to the RedLine.
Event warmup:

Missed the organized warm-up, so mine consisted of pacing back and forth trying to spot friends or BT members on the green and minimal stretching.
Run
  • 1h 00m 8s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Tough moment around mile 4, confidence flat by mile 5 despite great performance and by far a 10k PR.
What would you do differently?:

Stretch more in the days before, switch up shorts or use body glide to avoid the painful inner thigh chafe!! Owie!!
Post race
Warm down:

Wander around food aisle, stuffing fruit cups and sports drinks into bag followed by a 1.5 mile walk to lunch then a 2 mile walk home. Stretching TBD.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Limited stretching in days prior - need more yoga days to loosen up tight hams and calves.

Event comments:

The largest all women's road race in the country - amazing the event is managed so well every year! Great, deceptively challenging course that I'd recommend to any woman training toward a first or any 10k. This is my third year, and I plan to make it back to 4 and beyond.
