Run
Comments: Just a beautiful day in Long Beach, and I ran a beautiful race, much to my surprise. Just two short walk breaks to fuel and a pretty consistent 9:45 pace with a better 2nd half split. I really just wanted to finish running and under 2:30, but 2:09 and only moderate pain just in the last 3 miles leaves me elated and ready for more. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I exceeded my expectations given only 5 wks of training after a 3 year layoff. Post race
Warm down: A little stretching, some muscle Kool spray (I liked it) and a beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training time and bum knee. Event comments: Great race, but the course was a little tough running the beach on a 10-12 ft wide path for 3 miles or so. Everyone was packed in narrow areas in many sections of the race. Unorganized start. Temps started in the low 50's. Finished in the upper 60's. Last updated: 2008-10-12 12:00 AM

Lots of traffic slow to get into downtown Long Beach parking structures. Thought we'd be 45 minutes early. Instead just enough time to get to the porta potty and get to the starting corral during the national anthem.
