Pre-race routine:

Up at 3:15 am (@#$$^) to get coffee, bagel, pb, and milk. Then caught the bus to the start from the pop century resort. Bathroom several times (glad for VIP runner's retreat with private bathrooms and no line!)
Event warmup:

Half mile walk from bus to runner's retreat. Another half mile walk to corral B (Don't ask how I got placed so far up.)

Comments:

I definately felt this run. I was surprised to see that my 5k splits actually got faster 1-36:27, 2-36:19, and 3-33:96. Last four miles at 10:04...not bad. I always like a negative split, but certainly didn't feel like I was getting faster. I also stopped for a potty break at mile 6. Took gu at 1 hour 10 min. and again at 2 hours. Hate that stuff and had trouble getting it down, but I do think it helped.
What would you do differently?:

Stay healthy! I'd like to get some pace bands for my goal time next year (2:15). They seem to help me stay on pace better.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to med tent and took two tylenol and ice (they're free, so why not?). Walked to VIP runner's retreat. Changed clothes, put on flip-flops, drank a coke, ate breakfast (scrambled eggs, potatos, and bacon). Drank tons of water. Lastly, registered up for the FULL marathon in 2010!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm pleased with these results. Originally, I was hoping to break 2:20, but got ill shortly before Christmas. Ended up on two consecutive doses of antibiotics trying to kick a sinus infection that blossomed into bronchitis. Needless to say, my trainging went to "h$%^" in a handbasket. Literally did not running for the three weeks leading up to the race. Nice taper, huh? So...I'm happy that I was only five minutes off my PR.

Not get sick! May be I need to plan my peak further ahead of the race. With the holidays, stress might be causing the illnesses (same thing happend last year, but not for as long a period). I'm thinking peak five or six weeks out, tapering very slowly to race day.

Event comments:

Love this race. So well supported and fun. My favorite part is the chuch choir singing to you as you round the last bend for the 200 yard dash to the finish. I also love spending the next few days doing the parks! All the walking makes for a great recovery and fun for the whole family!

Course: They changed the start location and time. I liked the course this year. Of course I love going through Magic Kingdom. There were not many "hills", however the left to right slope on some of the course was hard on the knees.
