Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:30 to get the r-stops out of the way. Made coffee from sample pack in goodie bag. Yuck. Took happy pill, blood thinning pill, joint pills, and artery juice (grape juice and hit the road to go get good coffee and Heather. We got to race at 8:00, Heather decided to run as Bob Stocks. Hell we had the number. Peed and waited till 8:30. Got chips.
Event warmup:

Ran around school on rough field. Then down road 1/4 of a mile or so ran walked back. Found Ken. No sight of Kirk like I could be standing next to him and not know it. Lined up about a dozen lines back to break head wind at start.

Comments:

Started next to Ken. We lost Heather lining up. Figured she was up front (wrong). Spacing was little tight but with had 4 lanes so with a little patience picking you way through was OK. I ran the side and sidewalk for a while. Ken maneuvered better then me so he got a little jumped. Kept Ken in sight till the last 1/2 mile then his kick was greater then me. Lost him. I concentrated on keeping a steady pace and picking my feet up. Legs held up well, during WU had some pain in the shins. No big deal on run. Run felt good. Third personal best. I'll take it.
What would you do differently?:

I got a get a better run jacket.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a little and got a drink. Looked for Heather figuring she was finished ahead of us. Ken and I headed over to get some food. Found Heather who disappointed with her run. 27:40 or something. She hasn't run much.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cold and weight. 10 pounds lighter this year and 4 minutes faster or so.

Event comments:

They have moved race headquarters from the basement of one school to the gym of another, much, much, much better. Good to race with Ken an Heather, Sad we didn't get to meet Kirk.
