Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30am and the race started at 7am. Did the usual shower and shave. Had Uncle Sams cereal with strawberries and soy milk for breakfast and then a Clif Bar (Chocolate Chip) 30 minutes before the race. Had 16 oz of H2O as well.

Said a prayer and talked to the spirit of my father to watch over me and give me the strength to do well on the marathon.
Event warmup:

Got parked at 15th and Wewatta and then walked along 16th street mall for my warm up. Worked out well and then I could also use the bathrooms along the way at the Hotels to get rid of the pre race jitters/pee-pees... LOL!

Comments:

What an amazing day! Perfect weather and a beautiful fall day! All those colors! Perfect!

Ran with my Clif Bar pacer, Scott! Great guy. Kept perfect time/pace every mile! Kept with him till mile 25 then lost him the last 1.2 miles... just couldn't keep up. I hit the wall pretty hard just after mile 25. Lack of Clif Shot... should of packed or taken just one more.

Said a prayer and begged my father in heaven to just help me get through it! He came through for sure! :)
What would you do differently?:

Lack of Clif Shot... should of packed or taken just one more. I'll remember next time. That's for sure!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked/ staggered around for a half mile and then stretched. Found the family right away along with Fil and Dick Dime! Awesome to be greeted at the finish line by Family and Friends! Made me so happy I cried, just a little bit! :)

Got a free post race massage too... thank you God!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Again... Lack of Clif Shots... should of packed or taken just one more. I'll remember next time. That's for sure!

Event comments:

An Amazing Day! I had my family to cheer me on at the finish line this time! I could hear my wife and kids yelling, "Go Sean!!!" and "GO DADDY!!!"
AWESOME & AMAZING! I was so happy that I couldn't stop smiling, even though I was in total pain! Beautiful fall sunny day! The best day ever for a 1st marathon!

I could feel my father watching over me from heaven as I crossed the finish line. I know he would have been proud!

I feel like it was so important to have my children there so that they see and have a role model for fitness/health. So many children nowadays have such poor health and eating habits that it scares me! Too many kids these days are overweight and eat nothing but processed foods, carbs, and sugar. It’s funny cause McDonalds was one of the sponsors at the Marathon and they’re responsible in part for getting me so unhealthy last year. I ate there 3 to 4 times a week back then and it nearly killed me! At least they were only handing out bags of apples and not cheese burgers… LOL!

Overall: 159/1723
Performance: Good
Course: All over Denver! Lots of rolling hills! Kind of surprised me. The start and finish was downtown in front of the State Capitol, a travel past many of Denver's major landmarks such as the Denver Public Library and the Denver Art Museum, loops its way through "LoDo" highlighting Larimer Square, Pepsi Center, Union Station, and Coors Field, then winds through City Park, Cheesman Park, and Washington Park and their neighborhoods creating a community-wide celebration throughout the city. The final stretch of the marathon took you down Denver's art district on Santa Fe Drive past the Museo de las Americas to the finish line and a post-race festival in Civic Center Park.
