Pre-race routine:

My first race. I didn't know what the hell to do but be nervous. I sat on the toilet alot and paced. I ate two pieces of toast with peanut butter. Felt to nervous to eat anymore. I drank a ton of water the night before and before the race.
Event warmup:

Can't say much for this. I stretched and ran a couple hundred yards before starting.

Comments:

Being my first event, I didn't want to push it real hard. I figured I could make up time on the bike. I went out to pace myself for 9 minute miles and thats what I did. I was very happy with my first 5k.
What would you do differently?:

Need to train more running. Would like to get my mile times down to 8 minutes.

Nothing really to compare on this since I have never done an event. I put my shoes on and then ran with the bike. I see some people like to keep their shoes attached to the bike. I had one of the worst transition times in the event. I was 356 on my transition time.
What would you do differently?:

Sure didn't seem like almost two minutes on transition. Not sure what I can do to speed that up. The lady on the bike next to me came in at the same time so I probably making sure I didn't interfere with her.

I rode the course 3 times earlier this year and never did better than 1:51. So taking off almost 8 minutes from best time felt really good.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself harder when the wind is at my back.

Again, nothing in the past to compare this too. But my second transition time was much better than my first. I will have to work with someone on how to transition better.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water at the last couple of miles before the end of the bike to have more fluids in me for the last run.

I could barely run the first half mile. I was limping pretty badly on my left leg. I just couldn't get my left leg to move. I spent most of the first half mile just walking. I had the worst run times in my age division.
What would you do differently?:

Need to train running after riding.

Warm down:

Walked around for a couple of minutes and stretched. Got something to eat and drink.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough run training. Will focus on that over the winter.

Event comments:

They did the awards ceremony before everyone was even done. Would have been nice to have some post race entertainment.

Course: A couple of miles before we hit Wrightstown the wind kicked up a little. It wasn't a whole lot. They were predicting 9mph winds for the day. It was nice to have that small amount of wind on the way back. It certainly did help on the way back because my 3rd 10 mile split was around 29 minutes, but I think they had the 30 mile marker in the wrong spot because it took my another 10 minutes to get back to the stadium and I know I wasn't going that slow.
