Comments: Being my first event, I didn't want to push it real hard. I figured I could make up time on the bike. I went out to pace myself for 9 minute miles and thats what I did. I was very happy with my first 5k. What would you do differently?: Need to train more running. Would like to get my mile times down to 8 minutes. Transition 1
Comments: Nothing really to compare on this since I have never done an event. I put my shoes on and then ran with the bike. I see some people like to keep their shoes attached to the bike. I had one of the worst transition times in the event. I was 356 on my transition time. What would you do differently?: Sure didn't seem like almost two minutes on transition. Not sure what I can do to speed that up. The lady on the bike next to me came in at the same time so I probably making sure I didn't interfere with her. Bike
Comments: I rode the course 3 times earlier this year and never did better than 1:51. So taking off almost 8 minutes from best time felt really good. What would you do differently?: Push myself harder when the wind is at my back. Transition 2
Comments: Again, nothing in the past to compare this too. But my second transition time was much better than my first. I will have to work with someone on how to transition better. What would you do differently?: Drink more water at the last couple of miles before the end of the bike to have more fluids in me for the last run. Run
Comments: I could barely run the first half mile. I was limping pretty badly on my left leg. I just couldn't get my left leg to move. I spent most of the first half mile just walking. I had the worst run times in my age division. What would you do differently?: Need to train running after riding. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for a couple of minutes and stretched. Got something to eat and drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough run training. Will focus on that over the winter. Event comments: They did the awards ceremony before everyone was even done. Would have been nice to have some post race entertainment. My first race. I didn't know what the hell to do but be nervous. I sat on the toilet alot and paced. I ate two pieces of toast with peanut butter. Felt to nervous to eat anymore. I drank a ton of water the night before and before the race.
Can't say much for this. I stretched and ran a couple hundred yards before starting.
