Overall Rank = 147/173
Age Group = Females
Age Group Rank = 87/106
Pre-race routine:

Had a meal replacement shake, banana, and an energy bar.
Event warmup:

Wasn't schedualed to swim till heat 12 (out of 16). I was at the race at around 8:30 - but heat 12 wouldnt have gotten in the water till at least 1pm. I basically was driving myself crazy watching everyone else go - so since the race director said the heats were flexible I just jumped in with heat 10 - I couldnt wait anylonger and was starving!
Swim
  • 10m 24s
  • 525 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Being in the farthest lane from the timing mats easily added 25-30 seconds to my time. I was very unfocused and dizzy during the swim - also, I hadnt put my timing chip on tight enough so every time I pushed off the wall it felt like it was going to fall off. Besides these issues, Im pretty happy with my time!
What would you do differently?:

Make timing chip tighter on ankle! Try to get in an earlier heat so to stay focused.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Had a bit of a hard time clipping in - other than that went pretty good! We had to walk up a staircase once we got out of the pool to the transition area - this was a bit tricky as it was super wet!

Transition times were in with the bike times
What would you do differently?:

Don't forget my vest! I was so flustered coming out that I forgot to put on my vest!
Bike
  • 1h 07m 37s
  • 17.5 kms
  • 15.53 km/hr
Comments:

Lap 1- Went Awesome, was passing so many people. I only got passed by one guy!
Lap 2 - Still passing people, going great until about halfway through! I got a flat tire!! If anyone is reading this who did the race, I was the girl in the light blue shirt walking beside her bike for about 20mins on Crowchild until the Bike Crew came around and fixed it for me. They replaced the tube as I had a pinch. I get back on my bike and get about 20meters, then I hear a hissing. Luckily the bike crew is still right behind me. There was a slit in the actual tire! They then had to replace the tube again and give me a whole new tire. This whole ordeal definiatly put me back at least 25 minutes.
Lap 3 - I went as fast as I could to try and make up as much time as possible! - pass a few people
What would you do differently?:

Not get two flat tires! Its just unfortunate that this happened as it was out of my control. I am going to look into getting some better tires for my next race.
If it wasnt for the flat tires I think I would have had a top 20 (out of females) bike time!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I am not very smooth at getting off the bike yet. I came to a complete stop and unlatched my shoes. Everything else went alright. I forgot to tighten my Yanks laces until about 100m into the run.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to get off bike better.
Run
  • 28m 48s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 46s  min/km
Comments:

Whoa were my legs sore. I fought through it and kept up a decent pace.
What would you do differently?:

Not go so hard on my last bike lap to save a bit for the run.
I'm pretty pleased with my run as I wanted a sub 30min run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, sulked to my boyfriend about my flat tire.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Having 2 flat tires. I felt out of it for the whole race. I have to learn to focus better and not get so worked up.

Event comments:

Unfortunatly the free lunch was all gone my the time I finished!:(
I had a lot of fun at the race and feel like I did well in each event if you consider my two flat tires.

Not a bad first triathlon!!

Of course - I got stuck in the lane furthest from the timing mats. I would say this easily added 25-30 seconds to my time.
