Age Group Rank = 29/42
Pre-race routine:

As with every morning, 2 packs of oatmeal. Ate banana at 6:30 and GU at 7 am.
Event warmup:

None! Line as to long to get into water. Horn went off while I was still on ramp. It took me at least an extra min. to get to start line once time already started.
Swim
  • 29m 55s
  • 1056 yards
  • 02m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Bad start, I have not used wet suit since last year. I have put on close to 20 pounds, mostly upper body, since I got the suit last year. I felt like it was choking and restricting my breathing. Calmed down the 2nd half but by then lost to much time. Also for some reason my calfs were cramping on swim..weird.
What would you do differently?:

Get to front of line to try to get into water early and adjust suit...oh yea, practice in wet suit!!
Transition 1
  • 03m 10s
Comments:

Tried to have shoe clipped into bike...big mistake, with calfs still cramping I couldnt do this and to dismount bike outside of transition and put on shoes...dumb!!
What would you do differently?:

Set up transition better, put on shoes and run like hell!
Bike
  • 1h 36m 9s
  • 31.5 miles
  • 19.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Tried to take it easy on bike because the way my legs cramped up last week during Longleaf Tri. I was hoping higher cadence and not pushing so hard would help. I think it did but bike time did suffer a bit.
What would you do differently?:

Put shoes on in transition area, duh and maybe push a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 03m 7s
Comments:

This included a stop to the porta-potty!
What would you do differently?:

Learn to hold my bladder!!!
Run
  • 1h 11m 1s
  • 6.55 miles
  • 10m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Much better than last week. Not much shin cramping until mile 2-3 and foot numbness didnt start until then either. Only walked a little bit at a few water stations.
What would you do differently?:

Run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Jumped on slip and slide then had to walk around in wet clothes for an hour.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Me

Event comments:

I felt I had to do this race to prove something to myself after poor performance last week. I could of done better but overall feel good about this one.
