Run
Comments: 1st time racing in the Newtons. Started out with a decent pace. I havent been doing a lot of training so I wasnt too sure how fast I should start the first part of the race. I started out with a pretty fast pace. Then I found someone who I felt would push me but would be a pace that would work. It turned out that it was a faster than I would have liked but it was all good. What would you do differently?: more training Transition 1
Comments: Pretty fast T1. Got helmet on fairly quick but I had to go through a large area with bike out of back of transition. What would you do differently?: Nada Bike
Comments: Tried to . keep cadence around 100rpmStarted out not too great. Took way too long to get feet in shoes and was not able to get up to speed as soon as I would have liked to. Once I was in went out of park on the roads. Road a good bit between 21-23mph. Then took a Right turn and hit a small head wind. Had me coasting around 19-20.5. Came back around the turn around and did about 22-23mph. Then took left back tword park and had a head wind with some gusts and a gradual uphill. With all factored in I thought I would have came out with a slower time than I wanted. Before going into T2 I followed a 2 people who took an extra loop on the bike which slowed my time down. What would you do differently?: Go out harder against the head wind. Transition 2
Comments: simple and quick. After racking bike it was hard to get moving again but it worked out. Run
Comments: Came out the back of transition which I believe made the first mile longer than it should have been. 1st mile 8:55. 1st 2 minutes I was fighting bad cramping and charlie houses in the calve that I believe was coming up from tight muscles then running with the Newtons. After about the first mile my muscles started to loosen up and the though of stoping from the charlie house went away. Second mile I actually felt a little better but was not at the pace I wanted. I got passed by about 3-4 people in the run. 2nd mile was 7:57 What would you do differently?: more intense bricks Post race
Warm down: Drank high protien ensure. Then some beers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. But still happy with my perormance Event comments: No Hardware, but I didnt walk away empty handed. Won Grand Prize raffle. on 35 people were in it so I decided to drop $20 and take the risk. Well walked away with Kenetic Fluid trainer with computer, mat, and block.
