Comments:

Before the run started, Jeanne spoke about her stepdaughter who lost her battle to breast cancer at 28 years old earlier this year. Because the race organizers donated all their support, all the money from the race would be donated to the Alyssa's fund to used for research, education and outreach by the Salem Hospital Foundation.

It was great to see the Fire Department and Police Department personnel running in groups.

I enjoyed the run, I found some big bodies to draft off when I was running into the headwind.
Post race
Warm down:

walked a lot, stretched, drank water and had a banana, then I went over to the chutes to cheer the finishers

Event comments:

Jeanne and Mike should be so proud of themselves. They created a beautiful, fun event that promises to be an annual event.

There were award catagories for the fastest overall racers, fastest Firefighters (male and female), and fastest Police Officers (male and female), as well as age groups.

I was very happy to come in 2nd in my age group--the first place woman in my age group ran 6:47/mile!!! SMOKING Fast!!!
