Run
Comments: Because of the amount of people, the whole race was kind of stop and go and zig-zagging through the crowds. I started out yelling at the walkers to keep right, but I gave that one up quick. In general the run was good, but I was a little overwhelmed with the masses of people around me. Physically I could have run faster, but I just let myself get sucked up from the pace of the people around me. Also, I got sooo hungry in the middle of the race... I heard later that at the end of the bridge, they were handing out dounuts... Good that I didn't see that. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive... If you want to break the 58 minutes, you have to be a little more aggressive. Eat better before the race. Post race
Warm down: Walked to the water station. Then looked for my friends. After I found them, I got something to eat and had 2 muffins within 10 minutes. Next mistake. That messed up my stomach pretty bad for the remainders of the day. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough to eat before race. No experience in big events such as this. Event comments: The reason why I 'only' gave 4 out of 5 is, that the package pickup the day before was a mess. If you put your expo in the middle of downtown, you have to come up with something to regulate traffic better. Last updated: 2008-11-09 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:45AM. Dressed, ate a granola bar and had a little bit of gatorade/water mix... Got the house together (11 people, 8 runners) and took off to the starting line at 6:30AM. The non runners threw us out close to the start line and we walked the rest... Wanted to eat some Powerbar drops on the way to the starting line, but forgot them in the car in the hustle and bustle of the moment.
Find the right place to wait for the race to start... Hopping around a little bit and soaking in the athmosphere. Chit-chatted with one of the people out of my group... The only other one starting in the RED area.
