Run
Comments: Had to walk a lot more than I would have liked- coughing, blowing nose and just plain feeling pooped. Despite feeling crappy, I exactly hit my goal I set for myself of 40-42 minutes. That seemed an appropriate exertion level for not having done any serious race training in recent weeks. What would you do differently?: Drink more water. Post race
Warm down: Warm down at Sligo for a couple of pints with my tremendously fast boyfriend (cut nearly 30 seconds off his avg mile pace today!) and a friend who rode his unicycle over to toast the holidays with us at 10am. What limited your ability to perform faster: Didn't drink enough water, but that's not what left me hacking and nearly weepy at the bottom of every new hill. This g@#ddamnm2@#$erF!@#ing cold! I just can't shake it! :( Event comments: Organized race, good costumes (bacon and eggs, lots of turkeys, and even one guy dressed as a box of Tofurkey!), great long sleeve race shirts- this is one of my new fav cold weather training layers. Missed out on the organized post-race activities since the line into the Burren was ridiculous, but otherwise thought it was a well-done event. The course hills are challenging, and I wish I were up for the challenge this time, but perhaps next year I'll be able to do this one illness-free. Last updated: 2008-11-14 12:00 AM
