Comments: Holy crap! I was thoroughly unprepared for this type of run. My goal was to keep about a 9:15 pace.... which I did, maybe once...going downhill! By about mile 5 my quads were on fire, and I knew that trying to keep a fast pace was not going to be a good idea. First loop was OK, challenging, trying not to fall. I stopped and got rid of the heavy gloves and sweatshirt at the halfway point. The second loop was even more interesting, almost went down a couple of times, my legs felt like lead. Second loop actually went by pretty fast it seemed. What would you do differently?: Not go out as fast, train on stairs maybe? Post race
Warm down: I was supposed to do 2 more miles after, I think I made it about 3/4 and stopped. What limited your ability to perform faster: I live in the flattest place on earth:) Event comments: I'd do it again! It was a cool race, I stayed with my daughter for the weekend so it was a nice weekend in all. Met up with Spot and Bostic, talked with them before and after for a while. Woke up, ate a Cliff bar and stopped at a Mcdonalds for coffee. I was only about 10 minutes from the race site.
