Total Time = 1h 22m 1s
Overall Rank = 35/295
Age Group = M30-35
Age Group Rank = 4/30
Pre-race routine:

Up at 4AM. Oatmeal and coffee.
Event warmup:

Road to the race site from the high school. Then road back to the high school and back to race site because brain surgeon Charlie forgot his shades. ;)
Swim
  • 16m 36s
  • 805 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Yup, another 70,000+ meters in the pool this year and the result: I'm still an average swimmer. The difference is I came out of the water feeling pretty fresh.
What would you do differently?:

Not think that since my last tri in October I've suddenly become a great swimmer and not start from the first line, center spot. I ended up going out at 1:40-ish pace and died within about 250 meters.
Transition 1
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

14th overall!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 38m 56s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 20.80 mile/hr
Comments:

For this course I had a very good time. Very pleased.
Transition 2
  • 00m 34s
Comments:

Perfect flying dismount. I absolutely flew through transition. 15th overall!! I had the same T2 time as the 1st place guy.

Once again, there were plenty of people who swam, biked and ran faster than me, but because I had smoking fast transitions, I ended up with a faster time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 24m 49s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

My run was terrible. I enjoy trail running in training at a leisurely pace. I Race horribly in the woods.
What would you do differently?:

Request they pave the woods? But seriously, what I would do differently is HTFU a little more and not lose a 3rd place Podium spot by a lousy 20 seconds.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate eggs, hashbrowns, congratulated Charlie on his PR.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My inability to HTFU and just get it done on the run in the woods.

Event comments:

The Ironclad campus is georgeous; the water was a perfect temp; the course is extremely well mapped. No question I will be back next year to claim my rightful spot on the AG PODIUM!!! :)
