Run
Comments: Started in wave 4, and apparently it took us 8 mins to get to the starting line. HR spike as we went up the first hill, but still started out pretty good. It was crowded, and I was a bit pissy at the walkers who thought it was a good idea for them to start at the front of the pack (and the people with headphones on who could not hear anything going on around them). I wanted to stick with the 2:10 pace group initially, but (I found out later) they started 5 mins before my wave. First 6 miles felt freaking great...HR was way down (154ish), and I was going at a good pace (for me). Calves started to feel a bit crampy at about 9 miles, but I kept going, and they loosened up a little. Saw my bunny at 10.5 miles, and that gave me a little boost, but overall I was still feeling good. It was at that point I caught up with the 2:10 pace group, but quickly found out they had started way before me. Last mile, I pushed really hard, and passed a ton of people because I had the energy to do it. We didn't stick around for the post-race activities...had to rush back to the hotel so I could shower and we could check out by 11! What would you do differently?: maybe more fluids with electrolytes, and more hill training (no good non-hiking trail paths near our house in palm springs) but overall I don't think it could have gone much better! Post race
Warm down: walk to the car :) Event comments: Crowded, but really good. Couldn't have asked for better weather! Last updated: 2008-11-29 12:00 AM

nothing too exciting, race started at 7:30, so I got up about 5-ish, ate my joe's o's and a banana, and got myself ready. Started hearing the marathoners run past our hotel at about 6:20 (they started at 6am), and left a few minutes later.
I didn't, well, unless you count jumping around to keep my legs from freezing off :)
