Swim
Comments: The water was HOT, like hot tub. If only there were ski-bunnies in there. I got queasy about halfway into the leg. I thought I hit my head on a lane line, and I got all confused because another one was floating under me. It turns out, a few lane lines detached and were snaking all over the pool. Luckily they got them sorted quickly. I had a strong finish, though. I think I passed 4 guys in the last 50m. What would you do differently?: I wish I had paced a bit faster, since I had a lot left in the tank at the finish. Transition 1
Comments: Took off helmet, glasses, shirt (hard to do!), shoes, and socks. Grabbed goggle and ran! Bike
Comments: I managed to pass a freaking peleton. I can't believe that people would cheat at a turkey trot like this, but there was a 12-man group drafting it's way to small-time glory. I pushed hard, thighs burned, and I am glad. I think this leg was really strong for me. Kudos to to Travis for passing me on the last lap. He was looking strong on the bike! What would you do differently?: I should have run with the pack. There wasn't anyone handing out violations for drafting, and I could have saved my legs for the kick-turns. Transition 2
Comments: Swapped shoes for cleats and hat for helmet. My helmet strap got jammed and I took 30 seconds or so to fix it. I knocked the bike next to me off the rack. I was quite the spaz. Run
Comments: Fast run. I've never run a pace this fast. My HR was maxed out the whole time. What a great leg! I'm so happy with this run leg, I can't stand it. This makes me want to work on my 5k leg for "real" sprint tris. What would you do differently?: I can't think of anything I could have done different. This was the fastest Chad I've seen. Post race
Warm down: I walked around the pool and met some fellow BT folks, and folks from the gcc triathlon class. I actually waited for the awards, in the hopes that 2 folks from my age group would place in the overall standings. No one did, and I go nothing for the day, except the stories... which I keep telling. Event comments: This was a good race, if a bit crowded. I think the rain added some excitement, for sure. The hot pool is my only complaint. It was a really great way to start Turkey Day. Last updated: 2008-11-29 12:00 AM

Got to the race at 5AM, because I was worried about the water. I didn't want to get a rack with a puddle under it. I stood in the dark rain for half-an-hour when I first got there. Thankfully, it cleared up right before the gun. My warm-up was running to my car at the last minute to get sunglasses that I didn't think I'd need.
