Run
Comments: This XTERRA thing is just nuts! This run went through some crazy brush and weeds and woods that was totally insane. The climbing was brutal, and the descents were just totally out of control. At one point on the single track I put my left foot down off the path on the left and tumbled off the edge of the trail. Minor scrapes and knee cut, but the whole thing was wacky. What would you do differently?: It would have helped to have been on the course once before, just to see what was coming up. Otherwise, I just ran as fast as I could, considering that I'd just finished Ironman Arizona six days earlier. Post race
Warm down: Finished the race and ate some fruit & eggs. Stayed around for the awards, and received a second place medal for my age group, which was sort of cute, I guess. What limited your ability to perform faster: Trees in the way. Cliffs. Scrub brush all over the place. Rocks. Death climbs and thrill descents. That sort of thing. Event comments: What a great, fun, post-Thanksgiving, season-ending race! I just love XTERRA. It's like being a little boy again; running, jumping, dodging obstacles. It's just a wonderful fun experience, and even though I'll proably end up getting hurt doing these things, I just love them. Great race! Last updated: 2008-11-29 12:00 AM

Walked a mile straight up the crazy canyon to the starting line. Barely arrived in time to pick up race number and head off.
Pick up number, pin it, and zoom to the start. Started toward the back.
