Swim
Comments: Time trial start by race number. Got in line and we were off 2 at a time. Was not nervous at all and just got it done. Never really ran into much traffic. Bumped into others a couple of times...no issues. Felt like I sighted fairly well. Had no idea how I was doing during the swim. Couldn't really see anyone without sighting, as no visibility. Drafting was hard, tried it a couple of times, but just couldn't get on any feet. What would you do differently?: Sight a little more frequently, work on drafting. Transition 1
Comments: Caught a cramp as I went down to put on socks, so I abbandoned my technique which cost a few seconds. Bike
Comments: Felt pretty good on the bike. Climbing was good and passed some on the climbs. HR stayed in the 150 zone which seemed a little high and I tried to drop it a bit toward the end for the run, but couldn't. I was able to stay in the drops comfortably most of the ride. What would you do differently?: Buy a $5,000 tri bike with rear disk and aero helmet. But for short term, put my clip on bar on the road bike. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Forgot to take my Garmin off the bike until I was ready to leave, so I changed the function over to running in transition. Would program the multisport function. Run
Comments: Felt fairly good coming off the bike. Did not notice brick legs. After about a mile, my hams started cramping at the point of contact where they were contacting bike seat as well as my quads above knee cap. Kept having to walk and get some relief. Finally, I wasn't racing, but just trying to get thru the day. Walked at all the rest stops and a couple more times. Left foot arch was rubbing badly...like stepping on glass. What would you do differently?: Got to focus on running and get comfortable with more distance. Post race
Warm down: Shawna and Jones were there at the finish. AWESOME. Ate a little fruit. Postponed the consumption of the adult beverages which I brought till later. What limited your ability to perform faster: RUNNING Event comments: Will definitely do it again next year. Last updated: 2008-12-03 12:00 AM

Got up at 3 to leave at 4. Hour drive, and we go from CST to EST, so we lost an hour. Ate some waffles w/ honey and arrived at beginning of transition opening which gave me plenty of time.
Had about an hour to relax before race and I had this great idea to take one of the espresso gels with caffeine before the swim. Tasted like crap, and had no water to wash down, so I had to look for a discarded bottle and hope it was half way clean.
