Swim
Comments: Wow...............what can I say, other than disappointing. No matter how many times I go back and think about this swim..........well, nevermind, move forward right? What would you do differently?: My sighting has been pretty good so far, but think I actually swam closer to 1700 prolly. I was WAY out to the right heading into the first bouy, but after than, stayed pretty much spot on course. So work on sighting with a mass start - or follow the right swimmer - haha. Transition 1
Comments: Happy with bot my transition times................about the only pre-race predictions I got right! haha What would you do differently?: Continue to practice. Bike
Comments: Think my hydration (liquid) was good. Road hard and felt my bike should have been a little quicker. Seemed like we couldn't get out of the headwind the whole ride - haha. My atrocious swim gave me a chance to have a fun ride by passing a lot of folks............unfortunately, the run portion loomed. What would you do differently?: Stick to my nutrition plan - didn't take my gels on the bike and that would prove to be a BAD decision. Transition 2
Comments: Again, pleased with my transition times...............bout the only thing that went right during the race. What would you do differently?: Not much - practice. Run
Comments: Well............disappointing here also. Remember the cals I was supposed to take on the bike - ya.....bout the mile 2 mark, both quads started twitching - well, at that point, I couldn't take the cals in fast enough - hit my gels and popped a couple Endurolytes - really didn't loosen up until mile 4. Miles 4.5 - 6.2 were the best for me the whole run. What would you do differently?: Stick to my nutrition plan!! The boo boo prolly cost me my goal of sub 3 hrs............on top of my crappy swim. Post race
Warm down: Saw the family - chatted it up with them and the T3 gang. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sticking to my nutrition plan on the bike - crappy swim/sighting - need to get stronger on the swim......maybe seriously consider buying a wetsuit. Event comments: Colleen Klein and the Tri-Sharks really put on a couple great events this year. I will be back for both next year........if the wkds work out............and hopefully, with 2 PRs. The positives from Saturday: 1. I FINISHED 2. I was not DFL (Dead Fing Last)....but I was DC (Damn Close!) 3. I am one step closer to my ultimate goal of becoming an IRONMAN in 2010. 4. I never felt like I was not going to finish and never wanted to quit. Last updated: 2008-12-08 12:00 AM

Same ole - woke up at 3 a.m..........cup of coffee, water, oatmeal and banana. Waited for the bus to pick me up at 4 a.m. - loaded up and off to the race site.
Set-up transition, walked around - hit the port o potty a couple times, listened to the pre-race meeting and headed to the water.
