Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:30, and in Big Tex fashion took a hot shower. But it was to loosen my neck and shoulders up, not to look pretty like him. Had coffee, water, fruit, and a bagel with honey. Got dressed and hit the start line which was only a block away from our hotel.
Event warmup:

Just filed in line. Some light stretching.

Comments:

After the Garmin loss at the start line, it was on like donkey kong. Felt friggin fantastic the entire race. My lungs felt great. Legs were starting to sore up around 10 miles from the hills, but not to bad at all. Seeing the mile 12 marker and the time being 1:40.56 I was stoked for the last mile. I set a PR by 12 minutes or so.....it was a great run.
What would you do differently?:

Not have that jackass bump me and have my Garmin pop off my quick release band(quick release...boy thats the truth). And not get a friggin speeding ticket driving down there.
Post race
Warm down:

It was a point to point race. So, once i crossed the finish line I saw my sister and bro-in-law and niece(they were all in Austin for something else) and hung with them for a bit. I made a point to look for my pace partner and good samaratian lady friend. She was a few minutes behind me, so I saw her cross and gave her a big high five and hug and thanked her profusely for all the help with pacing. I am so dependent on the Garmin its silly and on top of that I cant evenly pace with the dam thing on anyhow. Saw Fitty cross with a PR and we took a picture said goodbye to my family and fitz and I ate a bit and hit the bus back to the hotel. Great to have him there!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Going back and wasting 2 minutes or so looking for my Garmin.

Event comments:

Great race, goody bag was a little disappointing. Shirt not so great, but I will do this race again for sure. Great race for a persons first Half or someone who wants to set a PR!

BIG BIG Thank you to my boy Pope(Todd Hogan) for the race plan and coaching. After the WR Half he got me fast in 6 weeks! Thanks bro! Another shout out to Fitz for an awesome race and PR for himself.

Yeah right. Read my blog. Ran natural, Prefontaine style.
Course: Streets of Austin. Started at the Aboretum area, and finished just past the Royal Memorial football stadium and near Capitol building. Some very steep declines, but some VERY sneaky short and steep up hillers too. The elevation map truly makes it look way more downhill than it really felt.
