![]() Run
Comments: Officially a PR by :24 seconds. While it's hard to ever be disappointed with a PR, I am a little. Not so much because I think I could have run a better race because I really don't think I could have run that much better, maybe 10-20 seconds better. However, disappointed because I didn't put in the time training since the Drake Relays half to improve even more on my time. Still, like last year, I plan on using this a my spring board to my summer training like I did last year. Since this is exactly 7 minutes than I ran this course last year, that speaks volumes about my run training to this point. Now I just need to get going on the swimming and biking as well. What would you do differently?: During the race itself, nothing. The 3 weeks leading up to the race, train more including going for a long run (10+ miles) at least once in the weeks prior to the race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around, visited with a few of the racers, and then headed home to spend time with the family. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training as much as what I would have liked to or should have the weeks immediately prior to the race. Event comments: This will be a regular race on my yearly schedule. Last updated: 2008-12-12 12:00 AM

Got up about 5:30 AM, took a long hot shower, got dressed, ate two bananas and had a glass of OJ. Stopped and got a Red Bull and some gels at Hy-Vee and then headed to the race.
Jogged 1 mile on the course and stretched. Tried to stay warm since it was a little cool out.
