Swim
Comments: Eh. Probably my worst swim ever. Also the biggest wave I've been in, too. From shore out to the buoy was horrendous, I zigged here and zagged there. Once I made the first turn I did alright and passed quite a few, then made the final turn and was all over the place again! Weird... Not happy, but not all the disappointed either, to come out and see most bikes still there.... What would you do differently?: Get more wave start practice and maybe start more aggresively? Transition 1
Comments: Not bad, 1 minute is always lost in T1 to putting in my hearing aids. Oh well, something I'll always have to deal with and figure out a way to overcome. What would you do differently?: Nada Bike
Comments: Had a great bike! Much better than I was expecting, got passed by a few in my wave, and passed a few in my wave, so pretty much even, managed to pass about 4-5 in the last 3 miles. I recently changed the set-up on my P2 to a more aggressive position and this was the first race in that spot, and it felt great! It actually feels better than my relaxed position, and I am very happy with how things are turning out in the regard. What would you do differently?: Not much really, felt within my skills the entire ride. Transition 2
Comments: Did a good job here, semi-flying dismount. My legs felt like BRICKS running up the incline to my spot. Socks went on quickly, as did my shoes, helmet off, check (thanks Phil). Run
Comments: This is where it went downhill for me. My legs really felt yesterday's long run in them, and I struggled a lot. I probably lost 4-5 places on the run, I don't know. My ab muscles decided to start cramping up right at the turnaround. But, ya keep on truckin' and finish. I had nothing left for the final stretch, but I think I held off a final attack and stayed on for 13th AG, which in reality blew me away. I was expecting to be very near BOP in this group... To finish off in style, and bonked my head on the top of the finish tent. That was quite awesome.... Post race
Warm down: Tried to get my dumb ole hearing aid working again, and get warm. I really wanted to make sure I got near the finish to cheer other donks on. Had some water, ran into other completely random people that I didn't even know did tri's, so that was cool. Hung out with other donks for a while until I started craving something unhealthy. Hit up Mickey D's on the way back, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I made it in time for breakfast! Highlight of the day? Maybe... What limited your ability to perform faster: No taper? Event comments: Will be back next year! Last updated: 2008-12-12 12:00 AM

SLEPT THROUGH MY ALARM! uhoh... But not my too much, and I had packed everything the night before, so all I needed to to was roll out of bed, put my gear on, and hop in the car, coffee and i-tunes in hand. Didn't get rolling out of Mad-Town until 5:30 or so, and I came to grips with the fact that I was going to get the crap transition spot. Oh well.
Lake Mills was a final tune-up race to get things ready for Cap View and Door County. Coming off a foot injury the previous week, I was simply hoping to break 1:30, and make sure everything was working well on my new bike set-up (lower front end, everything slightly stretched out a little more.) No high expectations at all, finish and be in good shape for next week. I find that listening to Sugarland helps calm the nerves a bit...
I got a transition spot waaaaaaay in the back, and right in the middle of the rack, too. Racked everything up got it ready, and went and got my chip and number.
Stayed loose by walking around for a bit and chatting with the donkai nation, and wishing everyone good luck. I even got a chance to hug Tall Tri Dad...it was awesome.
Got in the wetsuit and swam for 4-5 minutes to get used to the water and get the lungs opened up.
