Run
Comments: I didn't think much about a goal. Read last years report but was to interested in report then time. To remember. Chris asked me, I figure anything like a 9:30 would be good, maybe 9:00 avg. Nice little downhill grade to start and low you in to a false sense of security. Started a comfortable pace. Hit the first mile 8:10. Who the hell is running this race. OK now I have 50 seconds to play with. Next mile 8:16. Hey I'm feeling pretty good. Hit 5K at 25:55 I;m thinking and feeling good. Pushing 85% and holding well. Take a gel at 4.5 mile and drink flask. Just right Play hopscotch with couple guys. I have no idea why. We got the chalk out and everything. It;s like surreal. Then we get going. Still running a good. Hit the home stretch. I feel good a start pushing a little more. I do well on a slight grade up. Start pumping away and pass a few people. Finish hard into line and with not much left in the tank. What would you do differently?: Get a new pair of shoes. Waiting for the new Pearl cruise to come out. Another week or two. Post race
Warm down: Walked a ways. Chris caught up to chat. He had a good run. Changed shirt. Went in to festivities. Had a Tofu chili, chicken broth. stood around because I didn't dare to sit, afraid I would freeze up. What limited your ability to perform faster: I thought I did go faster. Event comments: Great race Best day so far in this year series. Missed Mike and Ken. Nice facilities. There was a lot of traffic was manned by cops sometimes three. Five down one to go. I wish I had a routine. Carbo loaded all day yesterday. Stayed up to late and up to early. Got Willie set. Frantically looked for shirt and socks. Then Ipod no go. Jim was here to picked me up. Riding with the Montana Milers. Oh well. Drive to p/u other Milers at Tim Hortons. Then back to my house to pick up glasses. Luckily on the way. 40 minutes to race. Number and chip up. Meet up with friends here and there. Peed three times. Take a 8oz water flask and gel. Tried to figure out what I had to wear to stay cool enough on a 25 degree day. Long sleeve tech shirt, jacket and tights.
Short jog down a was and back then stretch.
