Total Time = 2h 24m 33s
Overall Rank = 24/128
Age Group = M35-40
Age Group Rank = 2/15
Pre-race routine:

The usual--had bar with HEED. Gel closer to start.
Event warmup:

Biked a little to check things out, select a gear, and calibrate power meter. Ran a little to and from car. Swam some.
Swim
  • 29m 57s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not great, but better than Pokagon. Navigating/sighting were good. Could have pushed more. Need to be much more aggressive with drafting. I did OK drafting for several short periods, but then lost the feet and had to wait for another opportunity.
People thought the swim course was a bit long. I think this is likely--I felt faster than this time and there weren't really fast times.
What would you do differently?:

Work hard to stay on some good feet once I find them.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

Pretty long run from water. Left shoes on bike. Should practice getting my feet in them and strapped.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 14s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 22.86 mile/hr
Comments:

Never felt great. Result pretty good, but never felt fast. Legs just weren't sharp and fresh. Tapering might have helped a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Could have pushed a bit harder at times.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Fine.
What would you do differently?:

Could have racked a little faster and put shoes on a little faster.
Run
  • 46m 35s
  • 6.5 miles
  • 07m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Note that it's billed as 6.5 miles, not 10K. Felt better here than on swim or bike. Felt loose and efficient. Definitely could have pushed more. Didn't necessarily feel like I had a faster gear, but did feel like I could have sustained that pace for much longer.
Got some pretty larger blister on the arch of each foot. This was the probably the farthest I've run without socks. Feet were hurting for the last couple miles, but I don't think it really slowed me down.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Cleaned up stuff and drove back to hotel to shower. Maybe should have waited around for awards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't feel as motivated to reach deep today. This was more about practice/experience/training than performance. Tapering would have helped too.

Event comments:

Not enough helpers at each drink station--especially those with 2 way traffic. My bike is coming along! Didn't feel great on the bike today, but it outranked my run (for maybe the first time).
