Pre-race routine:

For breakfast i had a bannana and a bowl of instant oatmeal with a glass of OJ. Went throught my Tri bag made sure i had everything and streching a bit before leaving the house.
Event warmup:

did a small run up the street and ran through my transitions.

Comments:

it was choppy at the turnaround which cause me many times to strokes and get push right back. navagation was good going out however coming back i was siting the wrong dock which was me to go about 100yds to the right so made more work for me. also i need to think about investing in clear lens goggles for the swim when it overcast like today was.
What would you do differently?:

i learn the importance of core and strenght training after the battle in the water. also i need to do more open water swims. as i did none leading up to the race

transition went really smooth it was the first time i got to use the shoes in a race. i didn't care about trying to dry off after the swim so that help and i had the garmin allready set up and on the handlebars the shoes were slid over the drops which work real well and the gatorade bottle was all ready in my drink holder helmet was in center of handlebars with my glasses and a Gu packet for me to crack open once i got to speed. all in all was real impressed with my T1.
What would you do differently?:

i like how everyone had transitions bags set up in front of there bike which i did as well however it would of been cool to have a poncho to wrap my bag in.

there was a tailwind going out and a strong headwind at points coming back.
What would you do differently?:

i need to get use to riding a softer tire and riding in a lower gear at higher cadences. i need to do more simulated race pace rides.

by the time i got back my socks that i had in my bag were soaked so i just decided to fore go socks and just put my running shoes on. I clipped out of my shoes without a issue and actually did it early and rode on the regular side of my pedals. i did have a slight issue with getting off my bike as my shorts stuck to the seat.
What would you do differently?:

goes back to T1 Comments bring a poncho to wrap my transition Bag. if it going to be rainy.

Comments:

The run was good i didn't walk any of it which was my goal. It didn't bother me that I didn't have socks on as much as i thought it might I left my water bottle at T2 as my fluids were on par throughout the race. i did carry a GU pack with me to suck on through the run.
Post race
Warm down:

did a small run done and back in the grass maybe about 1/4 mile and then strech out again in the grass.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The weather was an limiter today as i about didn't even show up to the race this morning. it was raining all the way up to the run when it started to clear up. also my lack of strenght training and core work limited my performance in the swim and the lack of open water swims also cause a poor swim time today.

Event comments:

I had no big goals for the race just to finish it and use it more as a gauge for where I at beginning 2009 so i can compare to how i end 2009. i was bummed that the shirts were the same design as last year and there was really no post race activity or nutrition for that matter however i did have a banana packed just in case
