Run
Comments: The plan pre-sitter-late was to run 10 - 10:30 miles and take it easy since we just did the Shamrock 1/2 a week or so ago and wern't really ready to race hard. Also having bad allergies this week or so splitting headaches from sinus's (SP?) so glad we wern't really planning on running it for good times. Sprinted to the start line trying to find a volunteer to ask if we could still run, finally found someone and she said that so long as we caught up to the sweep bus we could run. I figure we were the last people to start. Clock time 2:09:38, Watch says 0811 we started and the elites started at 0740 They were pulling the barrier across the road to close the course and we had to yell at the guys to wait and they let us through. First mile we were hauling a$$ to find the sweep bus. Passed the street sweepers, looked down at the watch, running a 7:30 mile at that point. LOL, first mile done in 8:06, 2nd mile done in 8:56, passed the sweep van at the end of memorial bridge. Ended up finally catching the field and just put it on cruise control at that point. What would you do differently?: Make sure we were there on time... Post race
Warm down: Walked around to find water, what a mess, there are 15,000 people in this race and they had some tables set up in a field that wasn't roped off so tourists, spectators and everyone else seemed to be in there. Finally got some water, muffin and a bananna. What limited your ability to perform faster: Wasn't planning on racing this race, just using it as training. Event comments: We just wanted to do this race to see what it was all about, very popular in the DC area. really running in the same spots I do when training, was nice to see the cherry blossoms. Everything turned out ok in the end but quite a morning. Last updated: 2008-12-16 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0545, jumped in the shower to wake up. Ate Toast w/ PB and a powerbar.
Exciting morning, sitter was supposed to get to our house at 0615, planned on leaving by 0630 and meeting up with Haley near the metro stop. At 0730 or so the sitter showed up. She is usually very reliable just overslept. Debated ditching the race and just going for a ride or run but figured we would give it a chance.
Sped off to the Pentagon to park, jumped on the metro supposed to be 10 mins away but seemed quite a bit longer.
