Run
Comments: Although this was a PR for me, it was a terrible run. Humidity was 94% and temps were in the 60s but dropped as the race progressed. I was sweating a lot, having trained in Illinois winter weather, but kept eating sport beans and didn't have any issues with cramping. A bad storm rolled in during the race, so once we got out of the residential area and onto Bayshore Boulevard, there were 20 mph winds. I saw a couple of port-a-potties get blown over. At times it was just easier to walk against the wind rather than fight it. Got rained on. Worst part was AFTER the race, waiting for other friends to finish. That's when the worst of the storm hit and temps dropped quite a bit. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Aside from the weather, I am pleased with the race. My goal was 2:30-2:39, so I did not attain my goal but did PR by almost 5 minutes. If the weather had cooperated, I believe I would have met the goal. Post race
Warm down: Walked around with mylar blanket, got some food, tried to stay warm. Event comments: I love this race and am sorry that the weather screwed things up. Last updated: 2008-12-18 12:00 AM

Got up at 3, had a cup of coffee and ate a piece of toast with peanut butter. We had an hour drive to the race site. Bad weather was threatening to cancel or at least postpone the race.
Nothing really, we all bailed out of the car in downtown Tampa and walked about 4 blocks to the starting line.
