Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 5:30, put on some clothes, packed my bag, and ate a a couple of Ego waffles and ate a banana.
Event warmup:

walked from the parking lot under 45 to the AAC to meet up with some co-workers - the first few miles of the race were my warmup.

What would you do differently?:

I was unable to train consistently for the month leading up to this race due to some tendinitis, so all things being what they were, I would not have done anything differently. If I could change the past, I wouldn't get injured and train more. This was my first 26.2 and based on the training I was able to put in, i'm satisfied with my time.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk into the arena, grab a beer and sit down for a while. Then it was back to the car before we headed to Trinity Hall to meet my wife, daughter, Matt, and Shannon for some more beers and some Irish Mulligatawny stew.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training during the last month.

Event comments:

The race was great, plenty of aid stations, plenty of volunteers. The post-race activities were lacking considering the size of the event and the entry fee (compared to other races). Last year they had a lot of local vendors inside the arena after the race offering food, coffee, etc. This year there was some Mich Ultra and that was it. It did make things much less crowded.

Performance: Good
i've got a bunch of data in my brand new Garmin 305, but I'm not going to take the time or effort to upload it here. First mile was a little slower than planned - 9:30. The next 10 miles or so were right around my goal pace of 9 min/mile. Just before the lake we passed the 4 hr pace group, so I knew we were on pace and picked it up a little to 8:30 min/mi. Coming around the East side of the lake we fought to maintain this pace and were relatively successful. Around mile 19, Jason and I separated and I was able to maintain the 8:30 min/mi pace through most of the remaining miles and gave it a little kick during the last half mile or so.
Course: Flat, fun, and friendly. I love the way the neighborhoods embrace the event. The best this year was the young kids covering ACDC as I ran by.
