Run
What would you do differently?: My training was garbage. I have been so busy with my masters degree I really haven't had time to get out and run. I am going to run another in Aug. and there will be no excuses for not running this summer. I will have a much more difficult goal to reach. Post race
Warm down: When I crossed the finish line I was a little disappointed that there was no one there to watch or meet me. My friends finished and went back to their hotel because the weather was so crappy. There were a ton of people I didn't know cheering me on, which I thought was the neatest thing EVER! Then I just grabbed my medal and walked to get a banana and a bagel. Wasn't really feeling the beer. The post race area was all mud, my shoes stayed in good shape until then! I also didn't get a foil blanked which I was pretty disappointed about. Then walked 8 blocks in flip flops to my friends hotel to shower. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't think there was much that made me run slower, I set my goal early and I beat my goal, overall I was pleased. Event comments: Since this was my first race I don't know what to compare this race too. I was impressed how well things went before the race. The weather was really crappy so I could blame the post race activities on that. Everyone just wanted to go inside and dry off. I will never forget this race since it was my first road race ever and I had never pushed my body to limits like that before. Can't wait until the next one. Last updated: 2008-12-18 12:00 AM

This being my first race I had no idea what I was doing. I stayed at a friends house and got up at 4 a.m. I wasn't sure how early I needed to be at the race so I got there at 530. I had half a muffin and a really small coffee. It was pretty nice outside so I checked my bag in and threw my jacket in my bag. Once I walked out of the building it started raining. I stood under tree freezing and wet for the next hour. I was so unprepared for weather and cold. I will know better for next time though.
Since I was frantically running around looking for my friends to start the race with, I used the first 2 miles of the race as a warm-up.
