Run
Comments: Given the heat, I think I did as best as I could. I started off with the crowds (grrrr: people who do not know how to seed properly) but broke free around the 2nd mile. Was able to maintain a sub 8 min/mile for the first half, but on the second half, I felt myself slow down. I took longer breaks at the water stops, and then would sprint to catch up with a few girls who I'd noticed were running my pace. The last half mile, I sprinted hard to get my time under 1:45, though when I looked at my watch later, realized I could have made it at the same pace I was keeping. Oh, well. I certainly worked for this PR, though! I came in UNDER 1:45. I'm very very proud of myself. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I don't think. Nutrition and hydration were all good, just the heat was really killer. Post race
Warm down: Stretched and walked. Went to Isabella's for brunch. :) What limited your ability to perform faster: The. Heat. Although now when I look at it, I wonder if I could have gone under a 7:45 min/mile average if it hadn't been that hot!? Event comments: Good race, good course (it's hilly!). Lots of volunteers and aid stations. Last updated: 2008-12-19 12:00 AM

Got up early, had half a peanut butter on toasted English muffin sammich and a sip of Ensure shake. I was super nervous, so I couldn't handle much more. I took my asthma inhaler, because the heat was pretty intense and I figured my lungs would not be cooperative today.
Walked over to the park from the apartment, stretched and got into the corrals.
