Pre-race routine:

Semi-panic and swear at myself for being an idiot and leaving my cycling shoes at home. Good thing it is not too far away and my partner was willing to drive them down to me.

I was happy with this - not spectacular but solid for me at this time of the year especially considering the last year and a half.

I think this was a new PW (personal worst) for this particular course - I don't think I've ever done it at <18mph before (sigh), but pretty much it was to be expected because I have never done it on so little cycling base and/or with a having a cold.
What would you do differently?:

a) Not have a cold
b) Be able to train more. The hip that was scoped in Sept is now doing pretty well in all things EXCEPT cycling which really seems to still piss it off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Having a cold.
Not being able to train more on the bike due to still recovering from arthroscopic hip surgery in September. I'm virtually at the 6 month mark now, so hopefully I'll be in the clear soon.

Event comments:

Great to have this low key series to keep me motivated through the winter!
