Comments: It was humid and warm, which is crazy for Dec 20th. But I guess I didn't think much about it during the race, except for trying to keep the sweat out of my eyes. There are a couple of women who I know are my competition (in my age group), and they took off like jack rabbits! But I calmly told myself to run my own race, in hopes that they would burn out. It worked! I passed one of them before the 2 mile point, and passed the second one right before the 3 mile point. What would you do differently?: I'm not feeling very trained right now. With our vacation in November and then getting sick, I'm just now getting my legs back. I would like to have finished in under 25 minutes, but right at 25 is ok too. And I won Grandmasters! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Not much -- needed hydration more than anything. It was warm out there today! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and mental toughness. Event comments: The best decision I made today was to not keep up with the jack rabbits at the start. I ran my own race, it paid off, and I won Grandmasters. :) Last updated: 2008-12-20 12:00 AM

This race was later than normal, so I didn't even set an alarm. Coffee and a bagel in front of the computer.
Did a slow run for about 1.2 miles, just to get the heart moving.
