Swim
Comments: I never would have guessed that I pr'd this swim when I got out of the water. At the first wall I punched (accidentally of coarse) the girl in front of me in the head...a couple laps later I got kicked...I kept bumping into the wall...my garmin wrist band fell off half way through the swim. Here's where it all went right. After the first 75 a fast swimmer with a strong kick passed me. I pushed to get on her feet and for the rest of the swim I did whatever I could to just hold on. When I got out of the water and looked at the clock I was amped!! This gave me an extra boost on the bike and run for sure!! What would you do differently?: Nothing...I knocked a munite off my last PR and 2 minutes off of my estimated time!! I still have a lot of improvement to make in the water. Transition 1
Comments: I had the fastest T1 time of the day!!!!!!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Rode this exactly as I planned...start out 90%, after 4 miles go 110%, then just hammer whatever I have left for the last 4. What would you do differently?: Maybe stand up and pushed harder up the short steep climbs...I didn't because I thought it would kill my legs for the run. I need to do more intervals at this race pace. Transition 2
Comments: My left foot didnt want to go in the shoe. What would you do differently?: More lube in the shoes definately! 2nd fastest T2 of the day but I should have been out in 30 seconds! Run
Comments: My plan was to keep my pace under 7min miles and push hard after the half way mark. I started out and was able to hold a 6:30ish pace for the first .5 mile. Then at mile one my mind started wondering if I would die or pass out or whatever...so I unzipped my tri suit and took in a big breath, told my head to shut up and picked up the pace. I kept the pace between 630 and 7 until mile 2.5 then I opened it up and tried to stay close to 6 and on the track for the finish I sprinted to finish strong. This was, to date, the best 5k off the bike that I have run...I'm stoked with my perfomance. What would you do differently?: More speed work needed definately. Post race
Warm down: 2 mile run, walked around, ate some food. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was beat in the pool and the run. Need to keep working on these. Event comments: This is one of the best organized triathlons I have attended!! I love these little races to build confidence for the harder races coming up. There will be more competition at the bigger races so I will have to push even harder to get results like this. I'm looking forward to a great year with many new PR's. Up early to load the van, ate some oatmeal and an english muffin. Arrived early to set up transition and get in a pre-race run. Drank a redbull 15min before the swim.
2 mile run through the local neighborhoods. Swam a 50 before the start.
